The former executive director of a day-care center here is free on bail after being charged with second-degree larceny in connection with the embezzlement of more than $55,000 from the center's accounts.
Helen Heffner, 45, of 6 Ballard Road was arrested Saturday and released on $2,500 bail the same day, according to State Police and the Town Court's office.
Heffner resigned June 27 from the non-profit Country View Child Care Center, located at the Wilton Developmental Center on Ballard Road. The center is funded by the state, its employee unions and participating parents.
